India eyes more medals on July 28 at Commonwealth Games

Ananya Lohia , New Delhi - India will look to continue its impressive run at the 2026 Commonwealth Games on Tuesday, with medal hopes resting on boxing, weightlifting, athletics and swimming as several top athletes take centre stage in Glasgow.

India's biggest medal hopes on Tuesday will be in the boxing ring, where Preeti Pawar, Priya Ghanghas, Parveen Hooda, Jadumani Singh and Kapil Pokhariya will compete in the quarterfinals. A win in their respective bouts will guarantee each boxer at least a bronze medal. In weightlifting, Nirupama Devi Seram and Harjinder Kaur will also be in action, aiming to add to India's growing medal tally.

Athletics will see Gulveer Singh contest the men's 10,000m final, while Pooja Singh competes in the women's high jump final. In swimming, Srihari Nataraj, Sajan Prakash, Karthik Budigina and Ali Imam begin their campaigns, hoping to progress through the heats, while India's lawn bowls team will also kick off its competition with men's pairs and women's singles matches.

With multiple medal events and key knockout contests lined up, Tuesday promises to be another crucial day as India looks to build on its strong start at the Commonwealth Games.
