Mumbai | August 28 – The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has placed Mumbai, Pune, Raigad, and several other districts of Maharashtra under an orange alert as heavy rainfall is expected in the coming days.
The weather body warned of intense showers accompanied by thunderstorms, which may lead to waterlogging, traffic disruptions, and localised flooding in low-lying areas. Fishermen have also been advised to avoid venturing into the sea due to rough conditions.
While Mumbai and adjoining regions are bracing for heavy downpours, IMD has also alerted interior districts where rainfall could impact transport and daily activities. Authorities have asked residents to stay in updated with weather bulletins and exercise caution.
This comes as Maharashtra continues to face monsoon-related challenges, including flooding incidents in several parts of the state earlier this week.
