The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rain alert for Faridabad and Gurugram, warning residents to brace for waterlogging and traffic disruptions. The weather office has also predicted moderate to heavy showers in parts of Delhi over the next 24 hours.
According to officials, the rainfall is likely to bring relief from the recent spell of humidity but could cause difficulties for commuters during peak hours. Low-lying areas and stretches prone to flooding have been identified as vulnerable, with municipal bodies advised to remain on high alert.
In Gurugram and Faridabad, district administrations have deployed teams to monitor the situation and respond to emergencies. Residents have been urged to avoid unnecessary travel and stay updated on advisories.
The IMD said the rainfall is part of an active monsoon phase over northwest India, which is expected to continue for a few more days.
