Desk Correspondent , Raipur - A 23-year-old pregnant woman was brutally thrashed and murdered by her husband in Bhitthikala village, located in Chhattisgarh's Surguja district. The horrific crime took place inside their home last Thursday while the couple's four-year-old daughter was present. According to police and medical officials, the accused severely assaulted his wife during a drunken dispute and inserted a 10-inch iron hacksaw blade into her private part, causing fatal internal and external injuries.
Following the horrific assault, the suspect transported his unconscious wife to the Ambikapur Medical College Hospital, where he falsely informed doctors that her critical condition was the result of a severe road accident. Medical staff declared the woman dead upon arrival, prompting the husband to immediately flee the hospital premises before authorities could detain him. An autopsy conducted the following morning revealed that the victim was three months pregnant and had sustained at least 17 serious external wounds, leading to the recovery of the weapon.
Surguja police launched a swift manhunt and successfully apprehended the accused on Sunday in Ambikapur. Law enforcement officials confirmed that the suspect has confessed to the murder during interrogation, noting that he frequently subjected his wife to physical abuse while under the influence of alcohol during their five years of marriage. The recovered hacksaw blade has been sent for forensic examination, and the suspect remains in police custody facing murder charges.
