Severe rains battered parts of Uttar Pradesh, leading to tragic incidents that claimed at least 16 lives. Lightning strikes and the collapse of houses due to continuous downpour caused the fatalities, while several others sustained injuries.
Authorities reported that rural regions were the most affected, with many homes weakened by waterlogging and flooding. Rescue teams have been deployed, and local administration is working to provide relief to affected families. Compensation for the victims’ families has also been announced by the state government.
The heavy rains have disrupted daily life, with transportation delays and power outages reported in several districts. Meteorological officials have issued alerts for continued rainfall in the coming days, urging people to remain cautious and avoid open areas during thunderstorms.
The state disaster management teams are on high alert as more showers are expected, raising concerns about further damage in low-lying areas.
