Jaipur - Despite the complaints of bullying, verbal abuses and words with “sexual connotations”, the life of a class 4 student couldn’t be saved. The 9-year-old Rajasthani girl jumped off the 4th floor of the school building in the morning and died in the school premises. The CCTV footage showed that the girl went to a teacher twice minutes before the incident. But the teacher neglected her.
According to a source, the girls’ parents have been repeatedly complaining about the abuse and harassment of their daughter for a year. "I would speak to the class teacher, I spoke to the class coordinator not once, but several times over the last year, but they would either shrug me off or ignore me," the mother complained. Her husband, the girl’s father, also mentioned in the parent-teacher meeting that a group of students gave some sort of signals to his daughter. In response, the teacher said that this is a coed school and the girl (deceased) must learn to talk to all children, even the boys, according to the father. The father replied, “It is my daughter's choice if she does not want to talk to boys.”
The CCTV footage also doesn’t contain any audio. This violates the mandate from CBSE guidelines to record classroom sounds. The parents of the dead girl were outraged against the school authority over the children’s safety, guideline violations and infrastructural lags in the “prestigious school.” The girl’s parents lodged an FIR against the school administration under Section 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Mansarovar police station. According to a source, District Education Officer (Primary) Ramniwas Sharma confirmed that his department will record the parents' statements in the next two to three days in the presence of the police.
So far, the school authority has refused to comment on this matter.
