Ananya Lohia , Mumbai - Gurmeet Choudhary recently opened up about the emotional journey he and wife Debina Bonnerjee went through before becoming parents. Appearing on Tum Ho Naa hosted by Rajeev Khandelwal, the actor recalled the painful years marked by miscarriages, failed treatments and heartbreak, revealing that doctors had once told the couple they might never have children.
During the conversation, Gurmeet became emotional while speaking about the couple’s 10 to 11-year-long struggle to embrace parenthood. He revealed that despite trying for years and consulting several doctors, they repeatedly faced disappointment due to multiple miscarriages. According to Gurmeet, there came a stage when doctors had completely ruled out the possibility of them having children, making the phase mentally and emotionally draining for both him and Debina. Standing beside him, Debina was visibly moved as Gurmeet shared how their lives eventually changed when they were blessed with two daughters after years of pain and patience. Earlier too, Debina had described her first daughter as a “miracle”, admitting that only couples dealing with fertility struggles truly understand the emotional pressure and helplessness attached to the journey.
The couple, who became household names after playing Ram and Sita in Ramayan, tied the knot in 2011. They welcomed their first daughter, Lianna, in April 2022, followed by their second daughter, Divishha, later the same year. Over the years, Gurmeet and Debina have remained one of television’s most loved couples, often sharing glimpses of their family life with fans on social media.
Gurmeet and Debina’s heartfelt revelation has resonated deeply with fans, with many appreciating their honesty about miscarriage and infertility struggles. Their story stands as an emotional reminder of hope, resilience and the joy that can arrive even after years of heartbreak and uncertainty.
