Reports circulating regarding veteran Bollywood actor Govinda and his wife Sunita Ahuja's divorce have been put to rest by the actor's legal and management teams. Despite recent claims that Sunita had filed a divorce petition in Bandra Family Court in December 2024, citing adultery, cruelty, and desertion under the Hindu Marriage Act of 1955, the couple is reportedly not parting ways.
Govinda’s lawyer, Lalit Bindra, clarified, "Koi case nahi sab settle ho raha hai ye sab log purani cheezen utha ke daal rahe hain" (There is no case, everything is being settled, people are just bringing up old matters). Furthermore, sources suggested that the couple would be seen together during Ganesh Chaturthi.
The actor’s manager, Shashi, echoed this sentiment, acknowledging that "thode bahaut mann mutav toh hote hi rehte hain" (there are always some differences of opinion in every couple). Shashi vehemently denied the claims of cruelty, stating, "Govinda jaisa insaan kisi par haath nahin utha sakta, chilla nahin sakta toh yeh cruelty jaise claims aa kaha se rahe hain?" (A person like Govinda cannot raise his hand on anyone, cannot shout, then where are these claims of cruelty coming from?). While Govinda did not appear in court, Sunita only attended once to file the case.
Shashi affirmed that Sunita loves Govinda, and they are together, stating unequivocally, "Koi divorce nahi hone waala hai" (No one is going to get divorced). The couple, married for 38 years, is reportedly focusing on their children's (Tina Ahuja and Yashvardhan Ahuja) careers and marriages, rather than these "negativity". The team views these ongoing reports as "old matters" being sensationalised for benefit.
