Four workers lost their lives after a gas leak occurred at a pharmaceutical company in Maharashtra’s Palghar district on Wednesday. The incident took place inside the unit while employees were on duty, creating panic in the industrial area.

According to officials, the leak was reported around midday, and emergency teams, including police and fire personnel, rushed to the site to bring the situation under control. The affected workers were rushed to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared four of them dead on arrival. Several others are undergoing treatment for breathing difficulties and related health complications.

Authorities have begun an investigation to determine the exact cause of the leak. Preliminary findings suggest that the release of a toxic chemical during routine operations may have led to the tragedy.

District officials confirmed that the plant has been temporarily shut while safety inspections are being carried out. Families of the victims have demanded strict action against the management and better safety measures to prevent such incidents in the future.

The incident has once again raised concerns about industrial safety standards in Palghar, which hosts several chemical and pharmaceutical units.
