Fujairah Port Smoke Rises After Drone Debris Fire

Desk correspondent , Dubai - A recent drone attack was registered near the Fujairah Oil Industrial area, no casualties have been reported but a fire breakout was mentioned by the authorities in Fujairah. This route is also the only bypass present at the strait of Hormuz. This has affected the functioning of the one of the busiest airports, the Dubai International Airport which was temporarily shut down as a result of this commotion. A facility near the airfield was targeted, which damaged the fuel tanks, due to which several aircraft didn’t have access to the airport and had to circle outside the premises. The emergency team undertook the operations in its control and tried minimising the damage.

There was another attack after which the place was officially shut down. Flights belonging to one of the largest airlines, the Emirates, confirmed that their flights were suspended too due to the unrest in and around the area.

UAE attorney-general Dr Hamad Saif Al Shamsi released a statement where he said that “a strict monitoring of digital platforms is being done, aimed at stopping the spread of fabricated information and artificial content intended to provoke public disorder and undermine overall stability.” Anyone who tries to post about the situation in West Asia due to the ongoing war between the United States, supported by Israel and Iran. They will be detained by the police. Thirty five people have been arrested so far for this reason, among which 19 were Indian citizens. They had posted a video from the United Arab Emirates which was labelled, “misleading and fabricated content.”

Tehran claims that the United States had used ‘ports, docks and hideouts’ at the United Arab Emirates to attack on Kharg Island, Iran’s main oil export terminal. Although there has been no proof of this claim. Anwar Gargash, diplomatic adviser to the president of the United Arab Emirates, said on social media that the country has the right to defend itself but “still prioritizes reason and logic, and continues exercising restraint.”

Iran’s Joint Military Command,on Saturday, threatened to strike US-linked oil, economic and energy infrastructure. If  the Islamic Republic’s oil facilities were attacked. Iran has clearly mentioned that it can attempt an attack on any or all the areas of the US in the United Arab Emirates and also, the gulf countries like , Iraq, Jordan and Turkey, that host US military facilities.

Apart from the Dubai Airport, missiles  have been dropped by drones on civilian areas too, including the biggest of hotels, financial districts, etc. Iran’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia in an interview on Sunday said that they need a “serious review” of their ties with other Gulf countries. And in order to prosper they need to limit the influence of the outside authorities. When asked if he was worried that the war could damage ties, Ambassador Alireza Enayati said: "It's a valid question, and the answer may be simple. We are neighbors and we cannot do without each other; we will need a serious review."

In a written reply to questions, he said the region’s situation over the last five decades had been shaped by an exclusionary approach within the region and heavy dependence on external powers.
"What the region has witnessed over the past five decades is the result of an exclusionary approach (within the region) and an excessive reliance on external powers," he said, calling for closer relations among the six members of the Gulf Cooperation Council, along with Iraq and Iran.
