Desk Correspondent , New Delhi - Man arrested after 31 years of evading authorities. Salim Khan, also known as Salim Wastik, posed as a social activist and Youtuber. He was arrested on Tuesday for the murder of a boy in 1995, in Delhi. After so long he was finally apprehended by Delhi Police in Loni, Ghaziabad. According to the Police he continued to evade arrest for so long because of continuous travelling though UP and Haryana, even changing his name.
Khan was a martial arts instructor at the Ramjas School, where the deceased was a student. He is accused of kidnapping 13-year-old-boy of a cement businessman in North East Delhi. He demanded 30,000 as ransom from the businessman, despite the demand, the child was killed and his body was dumped in a drain in Mustafabad. Although Khan and an associate were convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment in 1997, Khan went into hiding after being released on interim bail three years later. During his decades as a fugitive, he reinvented himself as "Salim Wastik," an "Ex-Muslim" influencer, and even survived a violent attack in February 2026 related to his controversial social media content.
The arrest follows a breakthrough by the Crime Branch, which received a tip that the prominent YouTuber was actually the convicted murderer who had declared himself dead in official records to evade justice. Police verified his identity through decades-old photographs and records before conducting a raid in Ghaziabad. Khan is currently in custody, ending a 31-year legal saga that saw him transition from a school instructor to a convicted killer and eventually a social media figure.
