The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has successfully deported fugitive businessman Harshit Jain from the United Arab Emirates in connection with a high-profile tax evasion and money laundering case. Jain had been absconding for months and was on the radar of multiple investigative agencies.
According to officials, Jain is accused of creating a network of shell companies to siphon off funds and evade taxes worth several crores. The case also involves alleged violations of foreign exchange regulations and the laundering of money through overseas accounts.
After sustained coordination between Indian and UAE authorities, Jain was tracked down and deported to India. Upon arrival, he was taken into custody by the CBI for questioning. Officials confirmed that he will be produced before a special court and further custodial interrogation will be sought to unravel the extent of the financial irregularities.
Investigators believe Jain’s operations were part of a larger nexus of white-collar crimes involving hawala transactions and benami assets. More arrests and seizures are likely as the probe expands.
The CBI has assured that the case will be pursued rigorously, underscoring its commitment to bringing back economic offenders who attempt to evade Indian law by fleeing abroad.
