Former Punjab Director General of Police Mohammad Mustafa and his wife, ex-minister Razia Sultana, have been booked by the Haryana Police in connection with the mysterious death of their 35-year-old son, Aqil Akhtar, who was found unconscious at his residence in Panchkula on October 16. 
A clip said to have been recorded by Aqil in August alleged that his father and wife were having an affair and he feared for his life. 
In response, Mustafa has strongly denied any wrongdoing, calling the FIR “not proof of guilt” and claiming his son suffered long-term drug addiction and psychosis. 
Among his claims: that Aqil’s wife had been “tortured” by the son’s addiction-driven behaviour, that the family had been trying to help his de-addiction for over 18 years, and that beliefs of an affair and plotted murder were parts of his son’s deteriorating mental state.
