A group of engineers has introduced a new concept aimed at enhancing passenger safety in the event of aviation accidents. The proposal suggests the use of advanced airbag systems inside aircraft cabins, inspired by the recent Air India flight scare in Ahmedabad, where turbulence caused injuries to several passengers.
According to the engineers, the design would involve airbags fitted into seat structures and overhead compartments, capable of deploying automatically during severe turbulence or crash-like conditions. The system is intended to minimize head and body injuries, offering passengers a higher level of protection than existing seatbelts alone.
The idea has drawn attention from safety experts, with many noting that while implementing such technology would require rigorous testing and regulatory approval, it represents a step forward in rethinking in-flight safety measures.
Aviation authorities and airlines are expected to study the concept further, as discussions around passenger safety gain urgency following recent incidents of turbulence and mid-air injuries. The engineers believe that with proper support, the technology could revolutionize aircraft safety standards in the years to come.
