ED Arrests Four Earth Infrastructures Promoters in ₹2,004-Crore Homebuyer Fraud Case

Ranit Kr. Singh , New Delhi — The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested four promoters of Earth Infrastructures Ltd. in connection with a massive ₹2,004-crore money laundering probe. The accused—Avdhesh Kumar Goel, Rajnish Mittal, Atul Gupta, and Vikas Gupta—were taken into custody on June 1 under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Following their arrest, a special PMLA court in Delhi granted the federal agency five days of custody for extensive interrogation regarding the alleged multi-crore real estate scam.

According to the central agency, the real estate group allegedly defrauded more than 19,425 homebuyers and investors by collecting substantial funds under the pretext of promising assured returns and the timely delivery of residential and commercial units. However, the projects were systematically left incomplete, and possession was never handed over to the buyers. The ED's investigation revealed that approximately ₹467 crore of the collected public money was intentionally diverted or siphoned off through various interconnected group entities, related corporate concerns, and separate individuals.

The federal agency emphasized that the actions of the promoters caused immense wrongful loss to thousands of innocent homebuyers who had invested their hard-earned savings into these projects. This high-profile crackdown by the ED highlights the intensifying regulatory scrutiny on real estate developers who misappropriate investor funds. The upcoming five-day custodial interrogation is expected to help investigators unearth the complete trail of the siphoned money and identify any further assets acquired through the proceeds of the crime.
