Andaman and Nicobar Islands – Tremos have been felt across Andaman and Nicobar Islands as an earthquake of 5.4 magnitude struck today on 12:06 pm, according to National Centre of Seismology. The depth of this earthquake is 90 km. Till now, there have been no reports of deaths and major damages in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Local authorities have advised people to stay calm and adhere to safety protocols.
Seismologists considered that the movement of the Indo-Australian and Eurasian tectonic plates induced this earthquake. Fortunately, the 90 km depth of the epicenter may have diluted the strength of this earthquake.
