Desk Correspondent , Mumbai - Naagin, one of Indian television’s most popular fantasy dramas, has found itself at the centre of controversy after a recent episode revealed apparent VFX and editing glitches. Despite its long-standing success and massive fan base, the latest episode left viewers surprised as unfinished visuals made it to air.
The episode, which was expected to showcase the show’s trademark grandeur, instead drew criticism for what appeared to be raw, unedited footage. Viewers pointed out visible blue screens, exposed wires, and actors lying motionless on set, suggesting that key post-production work had not been completed. The glitch quickly gained attention after screenshots were shared on Reddit, sparking widespread discussion and criticism online. Reacting to the viral moment, producer Ekta Kapoor addressed the issue in her signature humorous style. She shared a meme on Instagram featuring a fire-breathing dragon, joking about rushing back to the office after the “Naagin blue screen mistake.”
Reposting it, she wrote “Eggjacctlyyy,” subtly acknowledging the error without issuing a formal clarification. This is not the first time the show has faced backlash. Earlier, the makers were criticised for allegedly using AI-generated sequences. At the time, Ekta Kapoor responded with humour, playfully blaming the writers for demanding over-the-top scenes involving dragons and large-scale visuals, while also admitting her own creative ambitions. Despite these controversies, Naagin continues to be a major success story. Since its debut in 2015, the franchise has spanned seven seasons, making it one of the longest-running shows on Indian television. The current season stars Priyanka Chahar Choudhary in the lead role, alongside Kanika Mann as the antagonist portraying a shape-shifting dragon.
While the latest glitch has triggered criticism and online buzz, the enduring popularity of Naagin highlights its strong hold on audiences. The incident also underscores the growing scrutiny of visual quality in television production, even for well-established and successful franchises.
