With several cities facing waterlogging and flooding this monsoon, health experts have cautioned people about the hidden dangers that come with stagnant water and damp conditions. A leading doctor has shared important precautionary tips to stay safe during the season.
According to the doctor, waterlogging often becomes a breeding ground for mosquitoes, leading to an increased risk of diseases like dengue, malaria, and chikungunya. Contaminated water and unhygienic surroundings can also cause stomach infections, diarrhea, and skin allergies.
The doctor advised people to drink only clean, filtered, or boiled water, avoid eating street food during heavy rains, and wash hands regularly to maintain hygiene. Wearing protective footwear to avoid contact with dirty water and keeping homes dry and well-ventilated were also recommended.
People were further reminded to cover stored water, use mosquito repellents, and seek medical help at the earliest if they experience symptoms like fever, rashes, or stomach discomfort.
By following simple dos and donts, the doctor said, individuals can protect themselves and their families from seasonal illnesses and enjoy the monsoon safely.
