Ananya Lohia , New Delhi - Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh has expressed support for students following the police action during the Cockroach Janata Party's (CJP) march to Parliament, urging authorities to listen to their demands.

In an Instagram post, Diljit said students should not have been treated with force and appealed to the authorities to engage with their concerns. He also acknowledged that his remarks could once again invite criticism, recalling the backlash and legal issues he faced after supporting the farmers' protest.

His statement comes days after he had distanced himself from the CJP movement during an Instagram Live, saying he was an artist and not a politician. The remarks follow Monday's protest in New Delhi, where clashes broke out after police used barricades, lathi-charge and tear gas to stop demonstrators marching towards Parliament.

Diljit's support has added another prominent voice to the growing debate over the police response to the student-led protest and the demands for education reforms.
