Delhi’s Dakshinpuri Faces Month-Long Water Crisis, Residents Struggle for Survival

Swapna Kumbar , Bengaluru - A severe water crisis has pushed residents of Dakshinpuri Block 10 into daily hardship, with locals alleging that running water has been unavailable for nearly a month. Around 5,000 residents are reportedly affected, forcing families to depend on water tankers, carry buckets across multiple floors, and spend hours waiting in queues just to meet basic household needs. The situation has particularly impacted women, many of whom say they are being forced to request permission to bathe at their workplaces due to the ongoing shortage.

Residents claim the prolonged disruption has severely affected everyday life, especially in densely populated residential blocks where access to alternative water sources is limited. Long lines reportedly form whenever water tankers arrive, often leading to chaos and arguments among residents struggling to secure enough water for cooking, drinking, and sanitation. Women and elderly residents have been among the worst affected, with many forced to climb multiple floors carrying heavy buckets because of the lack of regular supply. Locals allege repeated complaints to civic authorities have brought little relief, increasing frustration across the area. The crisis has once again highlighted broader concerns over urban infrastructure and water management in parts of the national capital during periods of rising temperatures and increasing demand. Residents are demanding immediate intervention from authorities, restoration of pipeline supply, and long-term solutions to prevent recurring shortages in the future.
