In preparation for the Diwali festival, Delhi Police have deployed over 23,000 personnel, including traffic officers, to manage the anticipated surge in traffic. Despite these efforts, significant congestion has been reported across central and south Delhi, particularly near shopping centers and markets. Key areas such as Moolchand Flyover, Chanakyapuri, Teen Murti Marg, and ITO have experienced severe gridlocks, with vehicles moving at a crawl.
To address the situation, more than 3,500 traffic personnel have been stationed at major intersections and arterial roads, including Ring Road, Mathura Road, Aurobindo Marg, and Outer Ring Road. Additionally, nearly 20,000 officers from district police and specialized units have been deployed for law and order duties. Women police staff have been assigned to crowded public areas to enhance safety and visibility for female commuters.
