Delhi — Early morning showers brought relief to Delhi-NCR, but also led to waterlogging and traffic disruptions in several areas, particularly in Gurugram.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), light to moderate rainfall is likely to continue across Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, and Gurugram during the day. The department has cautioned commuters about possible delays and advised avoiding waterlogged stretches.
In Gurugram, areas such as Sohna Road, Golf Course Extension Road, and NH-48 witnessed heavy waterlogging, causing long traffic jams during peak commuting hours. Visuals from the city showed vehicles moving slowly through knee-deep water, while some motorists were forced to stop due to engine breakdowns.
Authorities said teams have been deployed to manage traffic and drain accumulated water. Municipal staff are also working to clear blocked drains to prevent further flooding in low-lying areas.
Residents, however, expressed concern that waterlogging remains a recurring issue every monsoon despite civic assurances. Many took to social media to highlight traffic congestion and poor drainage facilities.
Meanwhile, the IMD has said that while the rainfall will bring down humidity levels, commuters in Delhi-NCR should be prepared for longer travel times and possible disruptions throughout the day.
