Navjot Singh, 52, a Deputy Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs under the Finance Ministry, died following a road accident in Delhi on Sunday when his motorcycle was hit by a BMW near Dhaula Kuan-Delhi Cantt stretch. His wife, Sandeep Kaur, was also injured seriously.
After the crash, the accused, Gaganpreet, allegedly took both victims to Nulife Hospital in GTB Nagar, which is about 17-22 km from the accident site. Singh’s son, Navnoor, questioned why nearby hospitals with better facilities were not used instead, claiming that time was critical and his father might have survived had closer care been sought.
Investigations also revealed that the hospital chosen is part-owned by the accused’s family. Legal action has been initiated: an FIR has been filed under multiple sections including rash driving, culpable homicide not amounting to murder, and for allegedly concealing evidence
