Nepal - Gen-Z roared in Nepal again. A curfew has been imposed in Nepal’s Bara district as some protesters identifying themselves as ‘Gen-Z’ clashed with the CPN-UML (United Marxist-Leninist) cadres. According to a source, the curfew is to last from 1 pm to 8 pm (local time).
This curfew precedes the injury of six Gen-Z protestors in a clash with the police during a protest in the streets of Simara on Wednesday. The protestors got the news of the visit of CPN-UML general secretary Shankar Pokharel and party youth leader Mahesh Basnet to Nepal ahead of the election on March 5, 2026. The clash aggravated as a Buddha Air flight, carrying the former two CPN-UML leaders, was to take off from Kathmandu to Simara. The sources claimed that they were scheduled to address an anti-government rally. Police threw teargas to control the protestors, and the airport halted its operation.
“Curfew has been reimposed following the clash with the police to bring the situation under control," assistant chief district officer Chhabiraman Subedi confirmed.
