Desk Correspondent , Chandigarh – JECRC University from Jaipur has won the national title at the inaugural VALORANT Campus Cup (VCC), defeating PES University, Bangalore, in a thrilling grand finale. The event took place on March 30 and 31 at the JioGames Innovation Centre located at Chitkara University in Punjab. This victory marks as a significant milestone for collegiate esports in India.
A total of 32 educational institutions from across the nation participated in the tournament, which progressed through intra–campus selections, national qualifiers and intense game play rounds. In this championship some formidable team participated, IIT Roorkee, led by Satyam Prasad; PES University, led by Rahul Gopalan; MIT Pune, led by Om Deshpande. The JECRC’s team, led by Rohit Madhu, outplayed strong competitor like them in this tournament. The championship was co-ordinated in partnership with Riot Games, MSI, CyberPowerPC, and Ant Esports. Matches were hosted at newly established estate facility in Chitkara University, equipped with high–performance systems and low-latency connectivity, and streamed live to a national audience via the JioGames platform.
Pro-Chancellor of Chitkara University, Madhu Chitkara, stated that hosting the event aligned with the university’s vision of promoting digital sports, showcasing the importance of discipline and strategic thinking in competitive gaming. The triumph of JECRC University comes on the back of their proactive engagement in the esports ecosystem, including successfully organizing the 2025 JioGames Bootcamp that reached more than 5,000 students nationwide. This success is expected to inspire more institutions to invest in structured gaming programs.
