News Desk : In a major development in the Ram Temple donation misappropriation case, Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra General Secretary Champat Rai has stepped down from his post, citing the need for a fair and impartial investigation into the allegations surrounding devotees' donations.

Rai's resignation comes days after an FIR was registered against eight individuals accused of allegedly stealing and misappropriating cash and valuables donated at the Ram Temple. Sources said Rai chose to step aside on moral grounds to ensure that the ongoing investigation proceeds without any perception of interference. The controversy intensified after a Special Investigation Team submitted its preliminary findings to the Uttar Pradesh government, leading to police action against those allegedly involved in handling temple donations.

Investigators are probing claims of financial irregularities, theft and embezzlement linked to the counting and management of donated funds. The case has also revived scrutiny over the functioning of the temple trust after earlier audit observations reportedly flagged administrative and procedural shortcomings. One of the arrested accused had previously worked closely with temple administration, adding another layer to the high-profile investigation.

One of the accused, Tinnu Yadav used to work as a driver for Champat Rai, while no allegations have been made against Champat Rai personally, his resignation marks a significant development in the donation scam probe. With arrests already made and the investigation expanding, authorities are expected to uncover the full extent of the alleged misuse of devotees' contributions.
