Kerala | August 28 – Employees of Canara Bank staged a unique protest by organising a ‘beef fest’ after a branch manager allegedly attempted to ban meat consumption on office premises.

According to employees, the manager discouraged staff from bringing non-vegetarian meals to the workplace, which they viewed as an infringement on their personal choices. In response, protesting staff members came together to cook and share beef dishes near the branch as a mark of defiance.

The protest drew sharp reactions, with several trade unions backing the employees, while bank authorities have yet to issue an official statement.

The incident has reignited the debate over food freedom and workplace restrictions, particularly in Kerala, where beef is commonly consumed.
