Bihar’s political temperature is rising again as the BJP alleges that abusive slogans targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late mother were shouted during Tejashwi Yadav’s Bihar Adhikar Yatra. The BJP claims that at a stop in Mahua assembly, RJD workers used derogatory language, and that Tejashwi, leading the rally, not only allowed it but encouraged the crowd.

Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary was among those who strongly protested, saying the incident is a betrayal of Bihar’s culture and ethics. Posting a video on social media he warned that the “mothers and sisters” of the state will not let such “thuggish behavior” go unchallenged. Union Minister Nityanand Rai added fiery remarks, likening Tejashwi’s supporters to mythological villains like Kansa, promising the electorate will respond decisively.

The RJD, for its part, has denied the allegations. An MLA from Mahua, Dr. Mukesh Roushan, claims the video circulated by the BJP is doctored, and says it's part of a strategy to malign the party ahead of the elections. He insists no one in the rally addressed PM Modi’s mother inappropriately.

At play is more than just a verbal spat. With assembly elections looming, both sides are trying to shape public sentiment. Accusations of moral decay, respect for elders, and suffixes like family honour are being used openly in political debate. It remains unclear whether the video provides conclusive evidence, but for many voices in Bihar, the affair underscores how deeply emotions are entangled with politics this time around.
