Desk Correspondent , Bhopal - The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has issued a show-cause notice to its Madhya Pradesh MLA, Pritam Lodhi, following a viral video in which he allegedly threatened an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer. The notice, issued on Wednesday by state party chief Hemant Khandelwal, describes the lawmaker’s conduct as "highly objectionable" and a violation of party discipline. Lodhi has been given three days to provide a clarification, failing which he will face formal disciplinary action.
The controversy stems from comments Lodhi made directed at IPS officer Ayush Jakhar, the Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDOP) of Karera, regarding a hit-and-run case involving the MLA's son, Dinesh Lodhi. In the viral footage, the Pichhore MLA is heard threatening to lead a mob of 10,000 people to fill the officer's house with cow dung and questioning the officer's authority. These remarks were reportedly triggered by the police summoning his son after his SUV allegedly hit five people, including two women, in the Shivpuri district last week.
The MLA’s outburst drew sharp condemnation from the Madhya Pradesh IPS Association, which termed the remarks "derogatory" and sought immediate intervention. While Lodhi initially called for an impartial probe into his son's accident, his subsequent tirade against the police shifted the narrative toward political intimidation. The opposition Congress has also seized on the incident, demanding strict action against the lawmaker for attempting to pressure law enforcement officers on duty.
