Desk Correspondent , Panaji – Two brother, owners of Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub in Arpora village, North Goa, were granted regular bail by Judicial Magistrate First Class Jude Sequeira on Wednesday in a forgery case linked to the deadly December 6, 2025, fire that killed 25 people. Saurabh Luthra and Gaurav Luthra, who had already received bail in the main fire negligence case from a Mapusa sessions court on April 1, are set to walk out of jail. Advocate Parag Rao, representing the brothers, confirmed they must report daily to the Mapusa police station for the next five days.
The Luthra brothers flee to Thailand hours after the blaze and were deported back to India on December 17, leading to their arrest by Anjuna police. Mapusa police registered the separate forgery case following a complaint from the health officer of Candolim Primary Health Centre, who alleged the Luthras used a fake no-objection certificate and forged signatures to secure regulatory clearances and an excise license for the club. The latest bail comes amid ongoing investigation into fire safety violations and licensing failings exposed by the tragedy.
The fire at the popular nightclub triggered a statewide crackdown on illegal operations and safety norms across Goa’s entertainment venues. With both cases now resolved through bail, the brothers’ imminent release marks the latest twist in the high-profile matter. Rao said the detailed judgment in the forgery case is still awaited.
