Belgium announces sanctions on Israel, to recognise Palestine at UN General Assembly

Brussels – Belgium has announced sanctions against Israel and confirmed its decision to recognise Palestine during the upcoming United Nations General Assembly session.

The Belgian government said the measures are aimed at addressing what it described as violations of international law in Gaza. Officials stressed that the sanctions reflect Belgium’s commitment to supporting a two-state solution and upholding humanitarian principles.

The move is expected to intensify diplomatic debates within the European Union, as several member states are divided on how to respond to the conflict. Belgium has urged the international community to back its call for peace and accountability in the region
