Veteran Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Azam Khan had his security reinstated days after his release from Sitapur jail on September 23, 2025. According to a senior police officer, Khan's security was suspended during his imprisonment and was promptly restored upon his release, in line with standard procedures.

 Prior to his incarceration, Khan was provided with a 'Y' category security cover, which includes around eight personnel. Currently, his security detail comprises five constables and three gunners, indicating a 'Y' category protection level. 

Azam Khan, a founding member of the Samajwadi Party, was released on bail after serving 23 months in jail. His release followed the filing of over 100 FIRs against him, leading to significant political discussions. On October 8, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav visited Khan in Rampur, expressing support and labeling the cases against him as "fake." Yadav further stated that if the SP returns to power in Uttar Pradesh's 2027 elections, all such cases would be withdrawn.
