Desk Correspondent , Mumbai - The last rites of legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle with full state honours at Shivaji Park on Monday afternoon. Many political leaders, film personalities and admirers gathered in Mumbai to pay their last respect to the legendary playback singer. Known for her unmatched versatility and timeless voice, she remained one of the most celebrated figures in Indian Music for over eight decades.
Her mortal remains have been placed at her residence, Casa Grande in Lower Parel, in a glass casket drapped in the tricolour and adorned with white lilies. Members of the public have been allowed to visit and offer their respects since morning. As part of the state honours, Mumbai Police officers perform a gun salute at the residence of singer Asha Bhosle, where her mortal remains have been placed for people to pay their respects. As seen tight security arrangements have been made to manage the large crowds gathering in the area.According to her family, the funeral procession will move from her residence to the Shivaji Park crematorium in Dadar, where the last rites are scheduled to be performed at 4 p.m.
