Ananya Lohia , New Delhi - India's Arundhati Choudhary clinched the women's 70kg boxing gold medal at the Commonwealth Games, defeating world bronze medallist Chantelle Reid in the final. Her victory helped India register its greatest-ever boxing campaign with seven gold and three silver medals.

Arundhati's journey began in Kota, Rajasthan, a city known for engineering and medical coaching institutes rather than boxing. A brilliant student, she surprised her family by choosing boxing over academics, dreaming of becoming the first Indian woman to win an Olympic gold medal. Despite limited training facilities, she rose through the ranks with determination and hard work.

Her path was filled with setbacks, including a serious head injury in 2018 and missing the Paris 2024 Olympics after a family medical emergency affected her qualifying campaign. Refusing to give up, Arundhati returned stronger, winning the Boxing World Cup Finals, the Asian Championships, and now the Commonwealth Games gold.

The Commonwealth Games title marks another major milestone in Arundhati Choudhary's career, but her ultimate goal remains unchanged—to win an Olympic medal for India at the 2028 Games.
