Union Home Minister Amit Shah criticised Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin for describing the Constitutional Amendment Bill as a "Black Bill." Shah said such remarks were baseless and amounted to misleading the public on a matter of national importance.
He stressed that the amendment was brought to strengthen the constitutional framework and ensure fairness in governance. According to Shah, branding it negatively for political gains was irresponsible and showed disregard for parliamentary processes.
The remarks come amid heated political exchanges between the Centre and the Tamil Nadu government, with the amendment bill sparking sharp reactions across party lines. Shah reiterated that the government would not compromise on constitutional values and accused the opposition of creating unnecessary fear among the people.
The controversy is expected to intensify as the bill moves forward in Parliament, with both sides holding firm to their positions.
