Afghan quake survivors search for families and prepare graves amid ruins

Survivors of the recent earthquake in Afghanistan are desperately searching for missing loved ones while pulling wooden planks from collapsed homes to prepare makeshift graves. Entire villages have been reduced to rubble, leaving families with little more than their bare hands to dig through the debris.

Local residents say the devastation has left them without shelter, food, or medical support. Many survivors, still in shock, have been forced to bury relatives in hastily dug graves as rescue teams struggle to reach remote areas.

Authorities have confirmed heavy casualties, though the numbers are still rising as more bodies are recovered. International aid agencies have begun mobilizing relief, but access challenges and damaged infrastructure are slowing efforts.

The earthquake has once again exposed the fragile state of Afghanistan’s humanitarian situation, where years of conflict and poverty have left communities highly vulnerable to natural disasters.
