Abducted, assulted and robbed: Delhi man’s online date tunned into a nightmare

Desk Correspondent , New Delhi - A 34-year-old Delhi man was abducted, beaten, and robbed of nearly ₹7 lakh after a meeting arranged via a dating app. A hopeful good meeting turned into a nightmare in southeast Delhi. The victim was lured to Nehru Place around 7 pm on Tuesday by a 20-year-old woman, Jenny. Three men then pushed him into a car, assaulted and choked him until he was unconscious. The man was forced to transfer money through UPI, ATM withdrawals, and credit cards while being driven around south Delhi and Gurugram overnight, before being abandoned back at Nehru Place at 9:30 am on Wednesday.

Five people, including Harleen Kaur AKA Jenny and her four male accomplices, Nabjot age 30, a gym trainer; Sanjay alias Joey, age 28, a veterinary student; Rishabh, age 25, a cab driver; and Sahil Chauhan were arrested by Kalkaji police on Saturday. The gang allegedly used the same traps and tachtics to target and rob at least two other victims, including a doctor. A case was registered under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections for kidnapping and robbery after the victim filled a complaint. Police traced the accused through mobile numbers and payment details.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Hemant Tiwari said Jenny used the dating app to lure victims, with her associates carrying out the robberies. The incident highlights the risks of online dating meets in the capital. No prior cases were registered against the group, but investigations continue.
