Bengaluru is grappling with two distressing suicides during the recent Gowri and Ganesha festival days, including that of a pregnant 27-year-old woman, Shilpa. Shilpa, a mother to an 18-month-old, tragically hanged herself in SG Palya on Tuesday night. Her mother has since filed a complaint, accusing her son-in-law, Praveen, and his family of dowry harassment.
Praveen, a former techie who reportedly quit his job to open a chaat shop, allegedly demanded money from Shilpa. Although Shilpa secured Rs 5 lakh from her parents, Praveen reportedly wanted more. Police have detained Praveen as they investigate the exact reasons behind this tragic loss.
In a separate incident in Wilson Garden, 30-year-old Pradeep was found to have died by suicide on Wednesday. Police suspect debt may be the cause for Pradeep, who worked in a private company. These incidents cast a sombre shadow, reminding us of the hidden struggles many face.
