Special Correspondent , New Delhi – The ill-fated Goa night club, Birch, continues to draw controversy. Two of its owners have fled the country and are currently overseas. Police have issued a Look Out Notice against them, as they are believed to be in Thailand. Meanwhile, from Delhi, police have detained one of the club’s principal co-owners, Ajay Gupta. With this, the total number of arrests has risen to six.

So far, those arrested include the club’s Chief General Manager Rajiv Modak, General Manager Vivek Singh, Bar Manager Rajiv Singhania, Gate Manager Riyanshu Thakur, and staff member Bharat Kohli. According to sources, co-owner Ajay Gupta has been taken into custody and will soon be transported to Goa for formal arrest.
The tragic incident occurred around 1 a.m. on Saturday, near Baga beach in Arpora, North Goa, at the popular Birch Night Club on Romeo Lane. A massive fire broke out, prompting an immediate response from the police and fire services. The government has already constituted a special inquiry committee to investigate the incident, under the supervision of the Chief Secretary and the DGP of the state.
