Shivani jaiswal , New delhi - Leh-5.5-Magnitude Earthquake Jolts Leh-Ladakh, Strong Tremors Felt
Ladakh: A 5.5-magnitude earthquake struck the Leh-Ladakh region on Thursday morning, sending strong tremors across the area and prompting residents to rush out of their homes and buildings.
According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the earthquake occurred at 6:05 AM IST at a depth of 10 kilometers.
Due to its shallow depth, the tremors were felt more intensely in several parts of the region. Officials said that no casualties or major damage have been reported so far. Authorities are assessing the situation and monitoring the region for any further seismic activity.
A 4.3-magnitude aftershock was also recorded later in the morning. Leh-Ladakh falls under a seismically active zone, making earthquakes relatively common. Residents have been advised to remain alert, follow safety guidelines, and stay updated through official sources in case of aftershocks.
