Buying Foreign Goods Indirectly Fuels Terrorism Says UP CM Adityanath

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday cautioned people against excessive reliance on foreign-made products, claiming that such purchases indirectly contribute to terrorism.

Speaking at a public event in Lucknow, the Chief Minister said money spent on certain imported goods eventually finds its way to groups that work against India’s interests. He urged citizens to prioritise locally made products, stressing that supporting domestic industries strengthens the economy and enhances national security.

Adityanath also linked the issue to the government’s “Vocal for Local” campaign, saying it is not just an economic initiative but also a patriotic responsibility. “When we buy local, we are empowering our own workers, farmers, and entrepreneurs,” he remarked.

The Chief Minister’s comments come at a time when the state is pushing to boost small-scale industries and promote indigenous manufacturing under schemes such as the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative. Industry bodies in the state have welcomed the call but have also stressed the need for improving product quality and competitiveness to make local goods a preferred choice for consumers.
