Mohan Bhagwat to Visit West Bengal Signals Political and Ideological Shift

Kolkata - RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat is set to visit West Bengal from February 11, 2025, in what is seen as a significant move amid rising political and ideological tensions in the state. Originally planned as a 10-day tour, his visit has been shortened to four days, focusing on strengthening the RSS’s organizational base and addressing key regional concerns.

During his stay, Bhagwat will hold strategic meetings in Burdwan, emphasizing RSS activities in tribal-dominated areas. He will then return to Kolkata for discussions on expanding the organization’s influence in the southern districts. This visit comes at a crucial time, as West Bengal remains a battleground for ideological clashes between the RSS-backed BJP and the ruling Trinamool Congress.

Tensions between Bhagwat and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee have escalated, with Banerjee recently condemning his remarks on the Ram Mandir inauguration, calling them divisive. The visit is expected to reignite debates over religious and political narratives in the state.

Additionally, concerns over Hindu persecution in neighboring Bangladesh have added another layer of complexity to the visit. West Bengal, sharing an extensive border with Bangladesh, has long been a focal point for issues related to migration and religious tensions.
