India's Bold Move: Urges Russia to Repatriate Deceived Nationals in Military Service

Moscow - In a significant diplomatic development, India has called upon Russia to repatriate its nationals who were misled into serving in the Russian military. This plea comes in the wake of reports that several Indian citizens were deceived into joining the Russian army under false pretenses, only to find themselves on the frontlines of the Ukraine conflict.

The Deception Unveiled

Reports indicate that individuals were lured with promises of lucrative employment opportunities in Russia. Upon arrival, their passports were reportedly confiscated, and they were coerced into military service. Tragically, some have lost their lives in the conflict, highlighting the perilous situation these individuals face.

India's Diplomatic Response

The Indian government has expressed strong disapproval of these actions. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar described the situation as "unacceptable," emphasizing the need for the safe return of these citizens. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also engaged in discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin, seeking assurances for the repatriation of the affected individuals.

Russia's Commitment

In response, Russia has pledged to facilitate the early discharge of these individuals. An Indian official confirmed that Russia has agreed to release those who were misled into joining its army.
