Election Campaign of Atishi in Turmoil: FIR Filed for Model Code Violation!
Delhi - In a dramatic turn of events just days before the Delhi Assembly elections, Chief Minister Atishi has been charged with violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). The Delhi Police registered an FIR against her for allegedly obstructing public servants and violating prohibitory orders during her campaign in the Kalkaji constituency.
The incident occurred on February 4, 2025, when Atishi, accompanied by 50-70 supporters and 10 vehicles, was found at Fateh Singh Marg. Despite police instructions to disperse, she and her team reportedly obstructed an officer from performing his duties, leading to the FIR.
Atishi has vehemently criticized the Election Commission, alleging that her political rival, BJP candidate Ramesh Bidhuri, and his family members have been openly violating the MCC without facing any action. She pointed out instances where members of Bidhuri's family were found in the Kalkaji constituency during the 'silence period' before the elections.
This development has intensified the political climate in Delhi, with both the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) accusing each other of unfair practices. The AAP alleges that the FIR against Atishi is politically motivated, while the BJP asserts that the AAP is attempting to divert attention from its own alleged violations.
