Did Chiranjeevi Cross the Line with His Comment? Gender Bias Debate Erupts

Andhra Pradesh - In a recent public event, Telugu cinema icon Chiranjeevi made a remark expressing apprehension about his son, actor Ram Charan, potentially having another daughter. "When I'm at home, it doesn't feel like I am with my granddaughters; it feels like I am a ladies' hostel warden, surrounded by ladies all around. I keep wishing and telling (Ram) Charan, at least this time, have a boy so that our legacy continues. But his daughter is the apple of his eye... I'm scared that he might again have a girl."

This statement has triggered a wave of criticism, with many accusing the veteran actor of reinforcing gender bias.  

Critics argue that such comments from influential figures perpetuate outdated patriarchal norms, suggesting a preference for male offspring. The backlash has been swift, with social media platforms flooded with calls for Chiranjeevi to recognize the implications of his words and issue a public apology.  

Interestingly, this is not the first time Chiranjeevi has been at the center of a gender-related controversy. In the past, he has both condemned and been accused of making insensitive remarks. His past comments about his son's weight and appearance have also sparked debate, highlighting a complex relationship with public perceptions of gender and body image.
