AI Crackdown: U.S. to Target Student Visas Over Alleged Hamas Support

Washington D.C. - In an unprecedented move, the U.S. government is reportedly planning to deploy artificial intelligence to track and revoke visas of international students suspected of supporting Hamas. This initiative, aimed at tightening national security, has sparked widespread controversy and concerns over privacy and free speech rights.  

Sources indicate that AI-driven surveillance will monitor social media posts, digital interactions, and online behavior of foreign students. Any activity deemed sympathetic to Hamas or other designated groups could lead to immediate visa cancellation and deportation. While the government insists this step is necessary to prevent extremism, critics argue that AI-based monitoring is prone to misinterpretation, putting innocent students at risk of wrongful expulsion.  

Legal experts warn that AI-driven decision-making could create a dangerous precedent, where automated systems override human judgment in determining an individual's fate. The potential for false positives—where sarcasm, academic discussions, or even cultural expressions could be misread as extremist support—adds to the controversy.  

Human rights organizations have called for greater transparency and oversight, urging the Biden administration to reconsider the policy. Many fear that this move could disproportionately target students from Muslim-majority countries, leading to accusations of discrimination.
