AAP MP wants govt to pass Bill to designate Pakistan as state sponsor of terror
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh has urged the Indian government to bring and pass a Bill in Parliament that would officially designate Pakistan as a state sponsor of terrorism. Raising the matter during the ongoing special session, Singh said such a move was necessary in light of continuous cross-border terror attacks and the recent violence in Jammu and Kashmir.
He alleged that Pakistan has repeatedly supported and harbored terrorist organizations that target India. According to Singh, the killing of civilians and security forces in recent operations like Operation Sindoor is clear proof that Pakistan remains a major threat to India’s national security.
The AAP leader asked the central government to send a strong message internationally by officially declaring Pakistan a terror-sponsoring nation. He said this would help isolate Pakistan diplomatically and make it harder for them to escape global accountability.
Singh’s statement received mixed reactions in the House. While some MPs from opposition benches supported the idea in principle, others questioned whether such a declaration would carry legal or practical weight in international forums unless backed by strong diplomatic efforts.
The government has not officially responded to the demand yet. However, officials have in the past called Pakistan’s actions deeply troubling and urged international agencies to take stronger action.
The discussion comes amid rising political tensions over national security and growing calls for tougher foreign policy against nations accused of sheltering terrorists.
